As we gear up for Fat Tuesday, you already know the drill: we are preparing our stomachs for the greatest, most delicious tradition of the year....Pączki Day!

There is nothing quite like the hustle and bustle of waiting in line at the bakery at the crack of dawn to get your hands on those sweet, jam-filled Polish donuts before Lent begins. But this year, Fat Tuesday is extra special, and I just had to share a fun moment with you all!

My distant family member, Erika, runs the incredible Pietrzyk Pierogi over in Detroit. Recently, she was featured on Fox 2 News to talk all about the massive Fat Tuesday block party they throw at Eastern Market.

While she was on air talking about all the delicious food and festivities, I was so excited to see her wearing a custom rainbow Pączki crown that I made specially for her! The news anchors didn't mention the crown by name during the segment, but Erika wore it so proudly, and seeing my handcrafted folk art on live TV was such an awesome surprise.
